Your Guide To A Cleaner, Better-Protected Interior
Find the right products for every surface, understand the differences, and get more from your interior care routine.
Choose your interior cleaner according to the surface and the type of buildup you need to remove. Regular fingerprints on a centre console, greasy work-truck trim and winter salt deposits call for different approaches.
Premium Interior Cleaner is suited to routine maintenance: everyday dirt, fingerprints and light stains on compatible plastic, vinyl, leather, fabric and carpet. It is a practical starting point for keeping a regularly maintained car, SUV or truck clean.
Heavy Duty Interior Cleaner PRO is intended for more demanding cleaning on compatible vinyl, plastic and carpet, including stubborn grime, grease and accumulated soil. Choose it for areas that need stronger cleaning action rather than automatically using it throughout the cabin.
For specific materials or contamination, choose a targeted product. Leather Cleaner addresses dirt and body oils on automotive leather, while Salt Stain Remover targets road salt and calcium deposits on carpets and floor mats.
Start with the least aggressive suitable option, test a hidden area and follow the selected product’s directions. Touchscreens, instrument lenses and specialty finishes require their own compatibility checks.
Cleaning removes contamination; an interior protector is a separate finishing step for clean, dry surfaces. Choosing between low gloss and high gloss starts with the appearance you want and where you plan to apply the product.
Low Gloss Interior Protector creates a restrained satin finish, making it a good choice when you prefer a subtle, factory-style appearance. It is particularly useful where extra shine would be distracting, such as dashboard areas near the windshield.
High Gloss Interior Protector provides a richer, more noticeable shine on compatible plastic, vinyl and rubber. It suits trim where a polished finish is desired, provided the added gloss will not interfere with visibility.
Both products help protect compatible surfaces against UV exposure and everyday wear, but neither replaces proper cleaning. Apply a controlled amount to a clean microfiber towel or applicator, spread evenly and remove excess. Avoid surfaces where added slickness could affect grip or vehicle operation.
For cloth seats and carpets, choose Fabric Protector instead. It helps repel liquids and everyday spills on compatible fabrics; it does not remove existing stains or replace an interior trim protectant.
Leather cleaning and conditioning serve different purposes. Leather Cleaner removes surface contamination, including accumulated dirt and body oils. Leather Conditioner follows cleaning to help maintain softness and provide a natural sheen on compatible materials.
Begin by vacuuming loose debris from the seats, including seams and bolsters. Apply Leather Cleaner sparingly to a clean microfiber towel or suitable applicator, work in manageable sections and wipe away the loosened dirt. Let the leather dry before moving to conditioning.
When conditioning is appropriate for the seat finish, apply a small amount of Leather Conditioner evenly with a clean cloth or pad. Allow it to sit for 5–10 minutes, then buff away excess with a separate dry microfiber cloth. More product is not necessarily better: the finished surface should not feel heavily coated.
Check your vehicle manufacturer’s guidance for coated leather, and use particularly light applications on perforated or ventilated seats. Avoid pushing product into the holes. Do not assume that suede, nubuck or other specialty materials can be treated with the same products.
Caring for Car Carpets and Fabric Through Canadian Winters
Carpets and cloth seats can collect several types of contamination at once. Choosing the right treatment means separating everyday dirt and spills from the white, crusty deposits left by road salt.
For routine grime and light stains on compatible fabric or carpet, Premium Interior Cleaner is a suitable starting point. Vacuum first, check colourfastness in a hidden area and use controlled applications. Gently agitate where needed, then blot or extract the loosened contamination instead of soaking the material.
Use Salt Stain Remover where road salt or calcium buildup is present. Remove loose, dry deposits first, treat the remaining marks according to the product directions and remove the loosened residue and moisture. Inspect the carpet again after drying: stubborn deposits may need another controlled treatment.
Once the fabric is clean and completely dry, Fabric Protector can help reduce liquid absorption and make future spills easier to manage. Apply a thin, even coat and allow it to dry fully before use.
During winter, inspect high-traffic footwells regularly and address visible deposits as they develop. Always let cleaned carpets and removable mats dry thoroughly before putting the mats back.
Can I use an all-purpose cleaner inside my car?
Yes, UNLOCKD All-Purpose Cleaner can be used on compatible interior plastics, rubber, trim, carpets and floor mats when used as directed. It is useful if you want a cleaner that also covers suitable exterior jobs, while Premium Interior Cleaner focuses on routine cabin maintenance. However, “all-purpose” does not mean suitable for every material: do not assume compatibility with leather, touchscreens or delicate finishes. Follow the specific product’s dilution instructions, test an inconspicuous area and remove the loosened contamination thoroughly. Keep separate cleaning towels for interior surfaces and dirty exterior work.
Should I dilute UNLOCKD interior cleaners before using them?
Dilution depends on the individual formula; there is no single mixing ratio for the entire collection. Heavy Duty Interior Cleaner PRO specifies three parts product to one part water for delicate, compatible surfaces. That direction should not be transferred to Premium Interior Cleaner, All-Purpose Cleaner or ECO APC, which have their own application requirements. Measure accurately and label any secondary spray bottle with the product name and mixture. Diluting a cleaner does not establish compatibility with an otherwise unapproved material, so confirm the surface guidance and test first.
Can I use interior cleaner on my infotainment screen or instrument cluster?
Do not assume that a cleaner suitable for dashboard plastics is also suitable for an infotainment screen or instrument lens. Premium Interior Cleaner advises checking care requirements for these surfaces, and Heavy Duty Interior Cleaner PRO does not identify screens as an approved application. Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s cleaning instructions and use a product specifically approved for the display or lens. Avoid spraying liquid directly around screen edges, buttons or electrical openings. A cleaner’s compatibility with ordinary plastic does not establish compatibility with a specialised surface coating.
Why does my dashboard look streaky or feel sticky after cleaning?
Streaking or stickiness can result from applying too much cleaner or continuing to wipe with a towel that has collected dirt and product. Premium Interior Cleaner should leave compatible surfaces clean without a heavy residue when used correctly. Switch to a fresh microfiber towel, work on a smaller section and thoroughly remove the remaining cleaner. For textured areas, gentle agitation can help release trapped grime before wiping. Inspect the dry surface before applying a protector so you can distinguish leftover cleaning residue from the finish of a separate dressing.
Can interior cleaners remove old stains from car carpets?
UNLOCKD Heavy Duty Interior Cleaner PRO can lift stubborn dirt and stains from compatible automotive carpets, but results depend on the contamination and the condition of the fibres. An old mark may include permanent discolouration that cleaning cannot reverse. Vacuum first, test a hidden area and treat the affected section with controlled application and gentle agitation. Remove the loosened soil before assessing whether another pass is needed. If improvement stops, avoid repeatedly scrubbing the same spot or increasing the strength beyond the product directions.
What should I use to clean the inside of my windshield and tinted windows?
Choose UNLOCKD Glass Cleaner for interior automotive glass, including fingerprints, smoke residue and oily film that can affect visibility. It is formulated for tinted windows when used as directed, although aftermarket film should be tested in an inconspicuous area first. Use a clean, lint-free microfiber glass towel and buff the surface dry. Keep glass towels separate from cloths used for interior protectors to avoid transferring dressing onto the window. Work gently near tint edges and avoid abrasive scrubbing; glass compatibility does not automatically mean a product is suitable for electronic displays.
How much interior cleaner do I need, and which bottle size should I choose?
The amount needed depends on the vehicle, soil level and whether you are spot-cleaning trim or treating an entire interior. Premium Interior Cleaner is offered in 236.6 mL, 500 mL, 1 L, 4 L and 20 L formats. A smaller bottle is practical for trying the product or occasional maintenance, while larger formats suit frequent cleaning or multiple vehicles. There is no reliable fixed number of interiors per bottle. For a detailing business, tracking consumption across comparable jobs gives a more useful purchasing estimate than a universal applications-per-bottle claim.
